This is the privacy policy for Savora, a mobile app for saving and organising restaurant recommendations. Savora is operated by David Ho (“we”, “us”). If you have questions about anything below, email david.gen.purpose@gmail.com.

What this policy covers

This policy explains what data the Savora mobile app collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.

What we collect

We only collect what the app needs to work.

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your email address, a display name, and a user ID generated by our authentication provider. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and basic profile information from Google. If you upload a profile photo, we store it.

Your saved places

We store the restaurants and places you save, your status for each one (Want to try, Tried, Love it, Pass), any notes or tags you add, and the source link if you saved it from social media.

Shared social media links

When you share a TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook link to Savora, we process the link to identify which restaurant it refers to. We store the original link with the place you save so you can find your way back to it.

Location

If you allow it, Savora uses your device location only while you have the app open, to show you saved places near you on the map. We do not collect location in the background. We do not store your location on our servers.

App activity

We record basic in-app events (for example, when you save a place, search, or open a place card) so we can understand which parts of the app are useful. These events are tied to your user ID and stored on our own servers. We do not use any third-party analytics provider.

Friends and friend groups

If you add friends or create friend groups, we store those connections so the app can show you what your friends have saved.

What we do not collect

We do not collect precise location. We do not collect your contacts. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs. We do not sell or rent your data.

How we use your data

We use the data above to:

  • 1Run the app: sign you in, save your places, sync your data across devices.
  • 2Show you what you asked to see: your saved places, friends’ saves (if you’ve connected with them), and places near you on the map.
  • 3Identify restaurants from the links you share.
  • 4Generate an optional AI profile bio based on your saved places, if you choose to use that feature.
  • 5Improve the app by looking at aggregate usage patterns.

Who we share data with

We use the following service providers to run Savora:

SupabaseHosts our database, handles sign-in, and stores files. Your account data, saved places, and uploaded photos are stored on Supabase infrastructure.
GoogleProvides sign-in (if you choose Google as your login method), the Places service we use to identify restaurants, and the maps shown in the app.
AnthropicProcesses your saved places to generate your profile bio, only when you tap the “Generate bio” button. We send a summary of your saves to Anthropic for this purpose. Anthropic does not train its models on this data.

We do not share your data with anyone else. We do not sell your data.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on Supabase servers. Supabase is a US company that operates data centres in several regions. Some of your data may be processed outside Malaysia.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your saved places, friend connections, notes, tags, and uploaded photos. Some records may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before being permanently removed.

Your rights

You can:

  • See your data. Everything we hold about you is visible in the app.
  • Edit your data. You can change your saves, notes, tags, profile photo, and display name at any time.
  • Delete your account. Go to Settings and tap Delete account. This permanently removes your data from our active systems.
  • Ask for a copy. Email us at the address above and we’ll send you a copy of your data.
  • Ask us to correct or delete something specific. Email us.

If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA, including the right to object to processing and the right to lodge a complaint with a regulator. Contact us first and we’ll work it out.

Children

Savora is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we’ll delete the account.

Security

We use industry-standard security: encrypted connections, encrypted storage, and row-level access controls on the database. No system is perfectly secure. If we ever have a breach affecting your data, we’ll tell you.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that affects how we use your data, we’ll update the date at the top and notify you in the app. Continued use of Savora after a change means you accept the new policy.
